What is the purpose of electroplating (such as gold plating, silver plating, nickel plating, etc.) on the metal parts of JY series-circular electrical connectors? How to perform surface treatment to improve the aesthetics and protective performance of connectors?
1. The purpose of electroplating treatment
The primary purpose of electroplating metal parts is to improve the electrical conductivity of the connector. Gold plating, silver plating and other precious metal layers have excellent electrical conductivity, which can significantly reduce contact resistance and improve current transmission efficiency, thereby ensuring the stable operation of the connector under high frequency and high power conditions. Especially in high-end fields such as aerospace and nuclear energy, the conductive performance of connectors is extremely demanding, and electroplating treatment is particularly important.
Connectors often face complex and changeable environments during use, such as high temperature, high humidity, salt spray, etc. These harsh environments can easily cause metal parts to corrode and rust. Through electroplating treatment, a dense protective film can be formed on the metal surface to effectively isolate external corrosive media and extend the service life of the connector. For example, the nickel plating layer has good corrosion resistance and can significantly improve the weather resistance of the connector.
During the plugging and unplugging process of the connector, friction and wear will occur between the metal parts.
